WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED
Welcome to Chapter VII of the Police Unity Tour!
Chapter VII is based in Southern California but we welcome riders and support personnel from across the United States.
The Southern California Chapter was established in 2001 with three Southern Califonia riders Our Chapter grew and in 2008 expanded to 50 riders. In 2007 and 2008 we traveled to Portsmouth, Virginia and partnered with Chapter IV and Chapter VIII and rode the “Tidewater Trail” from Virginia to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C.
In 2010, our chapter tried a new and exciting route beginning in Somerset NJ. We rode through the beautiful rolling hills of Central NJ crossing the Delaware River at Washington’s Crossing and stayed in Philadelphia for our first night. Many made their way into Philadelphia for a cheese steak and a look at Independence Hall. The ride continued the next morning through Delaware and into Maryland eventually riding through Baltimore Inner Harbor. The third day was a nice short ride into Washington DC meeting the rest of the chapters at RFK Stadium and completing our journey together into the memorial. It was a great ride that we now repeat each year. We are now a team of approximately 450, including motor and support personnel.
Our route morphed into what is now known as the“Challenge Ride.” This route has grown in popularity and we anticipate a full roster and a waiting list. Our past riders are notified when registration opens, however, registration is open to all on a first come basis, so please do not delay signing up.
Please browse our web site and if you want to be a part of this incredible event then sign up to get this experience started. We hope to see you soon and appreciate any and all support to accomplish our mission, “We ride for those who died.”

Our History
In May 1997 the Police Unity Tour was organized, by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park Police Department, with the hope of bringing public awareness of Police Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices. We started with 18 riders on a four day fund-raising bicycle ride from Florham Park, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. which raised $18,000.00.
This last May, with nearly 2200 members nationwide we are proud to announce that we were able to donate over $2,200,000.00 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, bringing our total donations to nearly 38 Million Dollars. The Police Unity Tour is the largest fundraiser for the National Law Enforcement Memorial.
May of 2026 will mark the Police Unity Tour’s 30th year anniversary in which eighteen (18) legacy riders founded the Police Unity Tour, leaving from Florham Park, New Jersey. Their vision sparked one of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial’s leading events for raising awareness of police officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice… those who have been killed in the line of duty.
Moving forward this year with “police lives matter” our continued commitment and our motto, “ WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED” we thank you all that participated in and support this years Police Unity Tour.
